Frequently asked Questions

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science-based approach to understanding behavior and how it’s affected by the environment. ABA therapy uses evidence-based techniques to help children develop communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills. At Think PLLC, we use a child-led approach that makes ABA feel natural, engaging, and fun.

What does “child-led” ABA mean?

Child-led ABA means we follow your child’s interests and motivation to guide learning. Instead of rigid, adult-directed drills, our sessions are embedded in play and everyday activities. We build connection and rapport first, then use those natural moments to teach meaningful skills.

What ages do you serve?

We provide ABA services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 18. Our programs are designed to support each developmental stage — from early intervention through the teenage years — with goals tailored to your child’s needs.

What areas do you serve?

Think PLLC provides services across Pierce and King County in Washington State. We deliver services in the home, school, and community settings, as well as virtually when appropriate.

How many hours of therapy will my child receive?

The number of recommended hours is determined through a comprehensive assessment and is individualized for each child. Your BCBA will work with you to create a schedule that fits your family while supporting meaningful progress.

How is my child’s progress measured?

We use ongoing data collection and regular progress reviews to track your child’s growth. Your BCBA reviews this data to make informed adjustments to the treatment plan, and we share updates with you regularly so you always know where things stand.

How are parents involved in therapy?

Parents and caregivers are essential partners in the therapy process. We provide parent and caregiver training to help you reinforce skills at home, and we maintain open communication so you always feel informed and empowered in your child’s care.

Does my child need a diagnosis to receive ABA services?

Most insurance providers require a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to cover ABA therapy. However, we encourage you to reach out regardless — we can help you understand your options and guide you through the process.

Where do therapy sessions take place?

Services are delivered in the settings that best support your child’s learning, including in the home, at school, in community environments, and virtually. We work with families to determine the most effective setting based on your child’s goals.

How do I get started with Think PLLC?

Contact us to schedule an initial consultation where we’ll learn about your child and your family’s goals. From there, we’ll handle intake, verify insurance, complete an assessment, and begin building a plan tailored to your child.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We work with many insurance providers including Premera, LifeWise, Regence, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tricare, Aetna, Molina, Coordinated Care, Community Health Plan, and Amerigroup. If you don’t see your provider listed, please contact us and we’ll help you explore your coverage options.

What’s the difference between comprehensive and focused ABA therapy?

Comprehensive ABA addresses multiple developmental areas and typically involves more hours per week. Focused ABA targets specific skills or behaviors and may involve fewer hours. Your child’s assessment and your family’s goals will determine which approach is the best fit.

How long does the assessment process take?

The assessment process typically takes a few sessions to complete. It includes direct observation, caregiver interviews, and standardized tools to give us a thorough understanding of your child’s strengths and needs. Once complete, we’ll review the results with you and outline recommended services.

Can I schedule a consultation before committing to services?

Absolutely. We welcome initial consultations so you can learn more about our approach, ask questions, and determine if Think PLLC is the right fit for your family. There’s no obligation — we’re here to help you make an informed decision.
